Out of Season

September 2027

Juliana Cooke is 22; Jason Larson is 21; Helen Cooke is 61; Julian Cooke is 57; Charlie Cooke is 18

It didn’t feel quite right… weddings, after all, were supposed to happen in spring or summer. Getting married in the autumn just felt out of season.



Juliana knew that it was the best solution given the problems they’d had with the arrangements earlier in the year. She also knew that she was going to have to make some compromises, especially to fulfil her dream of being married by the sea at sunset. Like finding a dress she wouldn’t freeze in, and booking a venue with a covered deck looking out onto the beach, just in case it rained.

She and Jason spent the week before the wedding out at Bluewater Village, catching up with friends and family.



Juliana’s parents, and her brother Charlie, who was taking on Best Man duties at the last minute when Jason’s friend suddenly couldn’t make it to the ceremony….




Her friend Tracy, who would be her bridesmaid…



… and Tracy’s little daughter Tania, who Jason found was a good diversion from talk of dresses and flowers and shoes…



…and Jason’s parents, back in Bluewater Village for the wedding, and staying with his twin sister in their former family home.




The Larson parents had always had a, well, expressive relationship. Jodie and Jason had become quite good at steering clear when the sparks flew.



Juliana wasn’t so skilled - yet.



It wasn’t ideal but they made it work.



Fortunately Juliana’s fear of bad weather was unfounded – the day dawned bright and sunny, and it stayed that way all through the afternoon and into the ceremony…














With the ceremony at sunset, the reception went on well into the night…



















The next day, they left for their honeymoon on Twikki Island.

It might seem like a strange choice given that they both grew up by the sea, but given the busy-ness of planning the wedding, they were happy just to go somewhere peaceful, and do nothing.

Wedding picspam…

So, my first big TS3 wedding!

Jason and Juliana live in my main hood and everyone else lives involved lives in Bluewater Village (a TS2-style subhood  thanks to NRAAS Traveller), so I sent Jason and Juliana to Bluewater on vacation for the wedding. We couldn’t throw a wedding party, probably because they were on vacation, so we just invited everyone over to the venue lot and took it from there.

I recreated Jodie Larson, then created their parents, because I figured they’d be at the wedding and I like as many of my sims as possible to have families. The parents’ arguing was autonomous.

I’m not sure yet if Jason’s family will stick around or move to my ‘left town’ subhood. (The latter has exactly none of my sims living in it yet, as I haven’t recreated them, but I know I will need some ‘moved away’ folks for family events and whatnot in future, so its there and ready).

And, yes, the brother of the bride really did spend a good part of the reception flirting with the sister of the groom. Elsie does not look impressed!
